Arm Bands - Bear
Hand engraved Sterling Silver armbands, with a walking Bear design.
These are just over 2.4 ounces, but each will vary slightly. 4.8+ ounces for the pair. They measure 2 inches tall and were 10 inches long when flat. The bears are engraved in opposite directions so that each can be facing forward when worn.
$275 for the pair.
Arm Bands - Fox
Similar to the arm bands above, but these feature Fox.
$275 for the pair.
Brass Arm Bands
Similar to the arm bands above but made from brass. I do not intend to continue working with brass, so once they are sold, they are gone. I will roll the ones that are still flat before shipping.
$140 for the pair with Fox.
$140 for the pair with Bear.
$145 for the mixed pair.
Pins
This attachment style is not known to be correct for 18th century trade silver.
Inspired by drawings made in 1970 of private collection garments that seem to show pinned attachments. The "pin" drawings could just be artistic license, but he does not show them on other garment drawings. These are good if perfect historical accuracy is not required, or they work just fine as modern jewelry.
Add $5 to any of the raised pieces on the Animal Effigies page.
Inlays
Almost any piece of Trade Silver can be made as an inlay, or more traditional inlay shapes can be cut and optionally engraved. Tell me what you are thinking of.
And don’t be fooled by German silver - see my rant on the About page.
Nose Rings
These are a simple press-on (and period correct) alternatives to getting your nose pierced. My friend Kris Daman sent me an image of a Maltese cross from a private collection, asking me to make a nose ring for him. When I zoomed in, I noticed the shape was not a simple cross, but it had been adapted into what appeared to be a bird or butterfly shape, probably by an Indian smith. I copied the shape identically, added the engraving, and dubbed it the Kris Cross.
$5 plain ring.
$12 ring with ball
$19 with triangle or ball & cone.
$23 with Butterfly (Maltese) cross.
Powder Horn
Friend and expert Horner/Scrimshandler, Robert Scheffler, created this elaborate horn.
About 16 inches long, and between 2 ½ & 3 inches diameter at the base.
$350
Dress
Native style by an unknown maker. Very soft leather with the smooth side facing inward for comfort. The large beads are brass and red whitehearts with tin cones & horsehair. The red wool panel with the seed bead rosette could be removed if it is too fancy for you.
Fits most. Shown on both a size 2 model, and a size 12 model. Good used condition, belt not included.
Approximately 45 inches tall from the neck-shoulder to the mid-point of the ragged hem.
$250 + actual shipping which will be about $15 or $20 on this item.
